A big thank you to everyone who has left feedback!

Hello again Newgrounders!

Fua, it's been around three years since my last post here. In the mean time I've given animation a rest and have been focusing mostly on drawing, but also on another project, for which I now need your help.

Me and a friend got working on a game for Newgrounds' "Power of Three" game-jam back in 2009, which we didn't manage to publish in time. We've been working on it sporadically since then, and after a big push during the past few months, it's now almost finished. Before we release it and search for a sponsor, we need some people to help test the gameplay.

The game is a fast-paced base-defence arcade shooter with lots of frame-by-frame animation I put a lot of love into and some great electronic music, custom-written for this game, thanks to D3vilSheep.

It's feature-finished, we just need people to test out the difficulty, to see if its too easy or too hard, and balance gameplay on each level.

- If you'd like to be a tester, and get notified by email whenever we update the game, let me know in the comments or via PM. Serious testers are Seriously appreciated.

- If you don't want to be a tester but are willing to give the game a quick test and leave us some feedback, I'd be super grateful.

THANK YOU!

pretty fun could use upgrades or something and more levels.

thanks buthead24, we're thinking about it

really fun - looks well coded and love the graphics

- The only thing i seen missing from this was a story or at least a good one because i was like wooo! yea killing ships and fire balls and, hey wait a minute where the fudge am i and why am i killing these ? 0_o

hey rhys510,
thanks for the comment. A simple story was conceived to go along with the game, but I won't have time to animate it out for the final product, it'll have to do without one for now. perhaps I could do a super-simple slide-show intro type thing... hmm..

That's freaking awesome! If that doesn't get FP, then there is something wrong with NG.

thank you Saminat!
lets hope it does :)

Well, this was a long time coming!

it was!
and this time we're finishing it and getting it out there

the game seems to easy and needs like something to keep me coming back to the game i think there should be more levels and maybe upgrades as well to make the person playing it a game to remember i had some fun playing it couldn't really find any glitches or bugs... also the game is kinda hard also i think you should add like a special attack button that like kill/stuns or freezes the enemies.

hey FearedSoul,

So was it kinda easy or kinda hard? you mentioned both :) It would be helpful if you mention which difficulty setting you were playing on.
Some other people have also mentioned the game-length, so we're looking into that. Upgrades is a cool idea but we want to keep the formula simple right now, and it's also something that has been explored a ton in other games.

Thanks for the comments

also a idea i had was if you do add like a upgrade that it should look as if the weapon you're using changes and looks diffident and more bad ass when you do so. like if you upgrade the damage like the laser color changes colors like instead of blue it can be red.. then orange and the yellow then black so on and yada yada... as base hp upgrade's and stuff .. dont have to.. just ideas i have about on the game..

The game seems to be easy, so I guess more level is needed or harder boss but the achievement seems to be hard. Also it seems to be lack of features that make the game more interesting. Overall it is a fun game but need some improvise.

oh the way i put it.. i guess it got kinda confusing. i was playing on normal, and i meant when i first started it the first try it was easy but then when i played the same level again it was incredibly hard might have just been me sucking at it...yea.. that might be it... and yea i guess they do have alot of those. but i still find them fun.

Upgrading indeed can be fun, but it's not something we're interested in doing in this game in particular.
You might have found it very hard afterwards if you accidentally changed it from Normal to Hard. Give it some more play throughs if you like and let me know how it seems to you.

Wow, looks nice. Love the melodrama on the boss battles, haha.

I'd make the continue button bigger/simplify the inter-level screen because I thought it was a big complicated shop type thing and it almost scared me off.

The beeping when you miss is really annoying...

100% accuracy doesn't seem like a worthwhile achievement. That means if you miss once you've spoiled the whole level. I could see that discouraging people from trying for the other ones. People like to complete a game, you know? If it seems impossible they probably won't try. Unless you add an accuracy booster powerup of something, I'd lower it to 90% at the max, maybe less...

The first two boss battles were a bit short. I liked that the game moved along, but you could probably add another 50% to the time and get a little more out of those.

Make sure M mutes the game and P pauses it if you don't want 1 in 3 comments saying "WTF, NO MUTE?!? 0/5!!"

You guys planning to get sponsored? Don't accept less than $1k for this, I'd say.

Hey, thanks for the thorough comment.

1) Continue button - noted. I'll take a look.
2) I think there are a certain type of players who find going for the 100% stimulating. The 90% or lower are always available for those who seek them, as well as the other combos such as the stacks and so on. Accuracy booster is somewhat similar to what another player mentioned, but I think it sort of defeats the purpose of playing for a true 100% play-through. If you get a 100% score without actually playing at 100% accuracy, then there is no visible difference between how you played and how someone who actually DID get a 100% accuracy played - which I think is unfortunate.
3) Boss length - we got quite a few comments on the level and and boss lengths, so I'm going to extend those.
4) I hadn't thought of M for mute, that's a good idea. P not working for Pause is a bug, both P and Shift are supposed to pause the game.
5) Yes, we plan on getting sponsored. We are aiming much higher than 1k, we already got an offer for 1.5k which we couldn't accept.

Thanks again for the comment. Longer levels and bosses will be up within a few hours.

Also, ending sux but that's normal haha.

the-game-is-good-but-it-goes-too-fast-frm-the-
begining-and-that-make-it-less-enjoyable-also-
it-goes-insane-all-the-time-and-it-wold-be-nic e-if-u-could-make-it-a-little-moar-long-whit-d iferent-waves-and-and-a-shoping-or-upgrading-o ption

seems everyone wants longer waves, so that's what we're gonna do

16 August 2012:

Thanks to all of your input, we've updated the gameplay! Check out the new changes here: www.basestatus.velodius.com

Also, if anybody has tried getting some of the achievements, please post your results here! Let me know if some of them were too hard, if it was generally entertaining to try, etc.
